In an effort to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect our patients, visitors, and staff from increased risk of exposure, we ask that all patients, family members, and/or visitors, refrain from entering any HNL Lab Medicine facility if:

Special Services Offered for the Safety of Our Patients, Staff, and Community.
All of us at HNL Lab Medicine are committed to providing our patients with the laboratory testing needed to ensure your well-being during these unprecedented times. This message is to inform you of important changes we have made at Patient Centers to ensure you can receive the laboratory testing needed while providing a safe environment for you and our employees.
HNL Lab Medicine’s new enhanced patient experience is based on the latest CDC recommendations and includes:
- Remote (touchless) check-in options allow anyone to check-in for service at any HNL Lab Medicine Patient Center locations from a mobile or desktop device prior to arrival or upon arrival before entering the facility.
- Ready for You! is for those who prefer to wait for service either in their vehicle or outside of a Patient Center and receive a text message when a Phlebotomist is ready for them.
- House Calls is an in-home phlebotomy service where services are provided from the comfort and privacy of your home. Appointments can be easily be scheduled online or by phone.
After checking in at the Patient Center kiosk, you now have the option to wait outside or in your vehicle. When the Phlebotomist is ready to see you, you will receive a text notification.
This service is for anyone who wishes to wait in their cars or outside. Simply check in at the Patient Center kiosk, and enter your phone number to receive a text message notification.
Glucose Tolerance Testing
As a convenience for our patients requiring a glucose tolerance test, which takes several hours to complete, we are offering you the option of waiting outside, or in your vehicle. If you prefer to wait outside, you can now receive a text notification when the Phlebotomists is ready to see you. Remote (touchless) check-in options

HNL Lab Medicine’s in-home phlebotomy service in the convenience, comfort and privacy of your home in the following counties:
A convenience fee of $25 for non-medically homebound patients applies. Visa / Mastercard / Discover is accepted.

| COVID-19 Testing
Individuals seeking testing for COVID-19 should not visit any HNL Lab Medicine Patient Center to request a test. Tests must be ordered by a healthcare professional. Your healthcare professional or a designated COVID-19 regional testing site must collect the specimen which can be sent to HNL Lab Medicine for processing.

| Healthcare ProfessionalsCOVID-19 testing specimens must be ordered by a healthcare professional. The preferred sample type is nasopharyngeal (NP) swab in UTM viral transport media.
Please do not send the patient for COVID-19 specimen collection OR to drop off COVID-19 specimens to any HNL Lab Medicine Patient Center. Specimens must be collected by a healthcare professional or a designated COVID-19 regional testing site, which can be sent to HNL Lab Medicine for processing.
Prior to collection, instruct the patient to blow their nose to remove excess mucous.
Gently pass the swab through the nose into the posterior nasopharynx. Rub the swab on the nasopharyngeal membrane several times to loosen and collect cellular material. Withdraw the swab and place in UTM tube. Snap off swab at the score mark and screw on cap of UTM tube.
Specimen must be refrigerated or frozen.
IMPORTANT: Samples must be picked up by an HNL Lab Medicine courier or processed by one of the designated COVID-19 regional testing and assessment sites. If you require a courier pickup, please contact our Customer Care Department at 877-402-4221.

What is Coronavirus Disease 2019?
Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 (formally known as 2019-nCoV) is the name for the respiratory syndrome caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Can I send my patient’s sample to HNL Lab Medicine?
HNL Lab Medicine is accepting COVID-19 specimens collected by a healthcare professional for processing.
How fast will doctors get results back?
We expect results to be available 1-3 days from the time of specimen pickup; however, timing may be impacted by high demand.
What are the signs and symptoms of the COVID-19?
The symptoms can include a cough, possibly with a fever and shortness of breath. There are some early reports of non-respiratory symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Most individuals recover within a few days. However, some individual’s, especially the elderly or people who have a weakened immune system, may develop a more serious infection, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
