Walk-In Wednesday Clinic
Northampton County
HNL Lab Medicine is proud to partner with Northampton County to bring you the Walk-In Wednesday Clinic, providing lead testing for at risk children aged 15 years and under that live in Northampton County. Together, we are committed to protecting the health and well-being of our community’s youngest members.

Why Lead Testing?
Lead is a heavy metal and neurotoxin that can accumulate in the body, causing negative health consequences of the brain and central nervous system that may be permanent.
Unfortunately, Pennsylvania has one of the highest proportions of elevated lead levels in the United States. Although lead testing is not mandatory in Pennsylvania, it is recommended for all children to be screened before 12 months, and again at 24 months.
A simple blood test can identify levels of lead in the body, allowing patients to begin treatment as soon as possible.

Lead Poisoning in Northampton County
Despite the known dangers of lead exposure, testing rates remain low, leaving many children at risk of lifelong health issues.
According to the Lead-Free Promise Project, Northampton County’s concerning lead poisoning statistics include:
- Ranks 16th statewide for the number of children affected by lead poisoning
- Nearly 100 children are diagnosed with lead poisoning annually
- Only 14% of children are screened for lead
