Local Blood Shortage - Donate Blood Today

How is donated blood used?
Donating your blood can help save multiple lives. Each pint of blood can save up to three lives! Donated blood products are used to help save:- Accident victims
- Bone marrow and organ transplant patients
- Burn victims
- Cancer and heart surgery patients
- Premature infants
- Sickle cell patients
- Surgical patients
Who needs your help?
The blood shortage is impacting our community. There are 28 local hospitals that rely exclusively on Miller-Keystone Blood Center for blood products. Your generous blood donation can save the lives of the people you know and care about. Over 100,000 units of blood are needed each year to help save patients in our local hospitals – that’s 450 donors every day!
How we’re getting involved
To honor National Blood Donor Month and address the regional blood shortage, HNL Lab Medicine and Miller-Keystone Blood Center are partnering in January for an annual blood drive. Over 40 HNL Lab Medicine employees are registered to donate. These donations provide up to 20 liters of blood!
How you can get involved
There are multiple Miller-Keystone Blood Center locations and community blood drives to make donating blood as convenient as possible. Businesses, schools, and other organizations can sponsor a blood drive with either a mobile or inside setup, depending on the amount of donors - just like HNL Lab Medicine. We urge fellow community members to help maintain the local blood supply. Save a life and donate blood today!
