LGBTQ Pledge

HNL Lab Medicine believes the diversity of our workforce makes us stronger. We are committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We strive to attract, develop, and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our human capital is the most valuable asset we have. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and achievements as well.

Because of our commitment to diversity, HNL Lab Medicine has taken the LGBTQ Business Pledge presented from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s LGBTQ Business Council. The pledge that we’ve proudly taken states:

LGBTQ PLEDGE – Chamber of Commerce

As an LGBTQ-owned or LGBTQ-friendly business, we celebrate the diversity and inclusivity of regional businesses.  Our business is committed to promoting a competitive, economically vibrant Lehigh Valley, and we believe that in order for Lehigh Valley businesses to compete for top talent, we must have workplaces and communities that are diverse and welcoming for all, including, but not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

In order to remain in a financially competitive state in an ever-evolving national and regional economy and marketplace, it’s time for inclusive non-discrimination policies in the workplace, in housing, and in public accommodations.  Like a majority of Fortune 500 companies and other major businesses, in order to attract business and keep in step with best business practices, we need protections for our employees, residents and visitors on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

We believe that our business is enriched by the inclusion of LGBTQ people, and by placing the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s LGBTQ Business Council’s decal in our business window or website, our business will work to create a “safe space” for our LGBTQ employees and patrons.

In addition to sexual orientation and gender identity, we embrace, appreciate, and respect our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.

We commit to not only making our internal team feel accepted and celebrated, but also our patients at any of our HNL Lab Medicine Patient Service Centers and beyond.

HNL Lab Medicine is an organization committed to core values such as, respect, integrity, and honesty. A key element of respect is rewarding competency, performance, and character. Individuals must be judged by their personal merits, not their membership in any group. Fairness is the cornerstone of who we are.
