When you or your group visit HNL Lab Medicine, you'll embark on a comprehensive journey through our state-of-the-art clinical laboratories, gaining firsthand knowledge of our culture, values, and operational excellence. During your visit, you'll explore the various clinical departments, each playing a crucial role in advancing patient care through cutting-edge diagnostics and research.
You'll also have the unique opportunity to engage directly with Laboratory Leaders and specialized staff, allowing for an in-depth understanding of the complex processes behind medical testing, as well as the impactful work being done to support healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes.
HNL Lab Medicine is pleased to offer a range of visit options for your convenience:
Group tours: Ideal for classes or larger groups interested in learning more about our laboratory facilities and operations. Students participating in group tours must be 16 years or older. Group tours are held quarterly and typically last around two hours.
A tour serves as an ideal way for high school students exploring career options and college students seeking more information to plan their educational journey and pursue their interests.
Come visit us at the lab and learn about the process of conducting laboratory testing and delivering results that contribute to a patients diagnosis.
Students or groups wishing to visit HNL Lab Medicine must be 16 years old or above and sign a Non-employee Confidentiality Waiver.
Tours may also be scheduled by appointment: Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., at our 794 Roble Road, Allentown, PA, facility.
The following months are available for scheduling: February, May, August, and November.
Individual tours: Perfect for those not part of a groups looking to learn about the clinical laboratory and career pathways within the clinical setting.
Students or groups wishing to visit HNL Lab Medicine must be 16 years old or above and sign a Non-employee Confidentiality Waiver.

Alternatively, we can come to you: If visiting our facilities is not feasible, we are more than happy to bring the lab experience to your location.
Pre-K through College: If you have a large group, the group is under 16 years old, or distance is a concern, arrange for a visit from HNL Lab Medicine to your classroom or group.
Perfect for schools looking to remain compliant with Pennsylvania State Educational Standards. Share your preferences on what you want your class to explore, from careers in the lab to basic lab-based science lessons, and we will deliver an engaging interactive presentation.
Student shadowing: is available (ages 16 or older), Monday through Friday in four-to-six-hour increments during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., based on department and location availability.
Observe working technicians and technologists as they use various equipment and methods to produce laboratory test results. Shadowing exposes students to clinical environments in the areas of microbiology, molecular biology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, cytology, histology, and pathology.
Student shadowing requirements:
- Copy of Hepatitis B vaccination documentation
- Signed HNL Lab Medicine confidentiality form – this form will be emailed to you along with confirmation of your shadowing date.
