This Year’s Theme: Test Tube Rack
Test tubes aren’t just used to hold blood — they’re tools for discovery, experimentation, and imagination.
This year, we’re encouraging students to think like scientists and creators as they design their own unique test tube rack masterpieces. What’s bubbling, growing, glowing, or exploding in your vials? What experiment would you invent? From colorful chemical reactions to futuristic discoveries, the possibilities are endless.
This theme is designed to inspire creativity while celebrating the exciting connection between art and science. We can’t wait to see the incredible ideas students bring to life!

Students in grade Grades K-8
Each age group below will have one winner for the most creative, most innovative, most expressive categories (3 winners for each age group).
- K-2
- 3-5
- 6-8
Contestants will create their own unique test tube designs, drawing inspiration from the world of health, science, and discovery.
- Must be local to HNL Lab Medicine

Using colored pencils or crayons, illustrate and color your vision of a test tube that embodies discovery, innovation, or wellness. Design a test tube that tells a story, whether it’s about scientific breakthroughs, helping others, or exploring the unknown.
We encourage creativity! Your design can reflect curiosity, resilience, or the power of science in improving lives.

We'll be selecting winners in three different categories:
Most Creative:
Let your imagination shine! Whether it’s fun patterns, quirky characters, or bold colors, we’re looking for the most original and exciting test tube designs.
Most Innovative:
Show how your design represents discovery, science, or wellness. Create a test tube that highlights curiosity, breakthroughs, or how lab testing helps others.
Most Expressive:
Tell a story or share a message through your design. Whether it’s about exploration, helping others, or celebrating science, we want to see a test tube that speaks to us.
Each age group (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) will have a winner selected in each category.
Winners will receive:
Artwork proudly displayed in over 55 Patient Service Centers throughout Pennsylvania for the year.
A one-year family membership to either the Da Vinci Science Center or the Franklin Institute.
