HNL Lab Medicine Honored for Empowering Women in the Workplace and Beyond
Building a Future Where Women Lead at HNL Lab Medicine
We’re proud to share some exciting news! HNL Lab Medicine has been named a recipient of the 2025 Empowering Women Award by Lehigh Valley Business and Central Penn Business Journal. This award honors companies across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania that are making real, measurable efforts to support, promote, and elevate women in the workplace and in the community. For us, this recognition reflects who we are and what we’ve been building together.
At HNL Lab Medicine, empowering women isn’t a one-time campaign or a checkbox. It’s part of how we grow, how we lead, and how we show up for each other. Women make up 74 percent of our workforce and hold 70 percent of leadership positions across the company. Those numbers didn’t happen by accident. They’re the result of thoughtful, ongoing work to create access, opportunity, and a culture where women can thrive.
HNL Lab Medicine Supports Excellence
One of the programs we’re most proud of is our School of Phlebotomy. This is a nine-week paid training program that gives students hands-on experience, classroom education, and full support for certification. The majority of our scholarship recipients are women, and our assistance program enables them to overcome barriers and enter the healthcare field. It’s more than training! It’s a chance to build a new future.
We also offer a Leadership Excellence Program for employees on a leadership path. About 70 percent of participants are women, and the program includes leadership coaching, communication training, and exercises that help people better understand their strengths and leadership style. It’s been a great way to help team members prepare for new roles and responsibilities.
Mentorship plays a big role in our culture, too. Our company-wide mentorship program connects employees with mentors based on their goals and career interests. It’s one more way we make sure people have support and guidance as they grow within our organization.
Beyond our walls, we’re working to build a better future for women in our community. Through our partnership with United Way, we support local schools with health services, academic programs, and family outreach. These efforts have a real impact on young girls in underserved areas. Our Student Immersion Program brings high school and college students into our labs to explore careers in science. We want them to see what’s possible and know there’s a place for them here.
Recognizing Contributions
We also make a point to celebrate the amazing women already leading at HNL Lab Medicine. Whether through internal spotlights, award nominations, or events like International Women’s Day, we’re proud to recognize the talent and dedication that women bring to every part of our organization.
Winning the Empowering Women Award is an honor, but it’s not the end goal. It’s a reminder that we’re on the right track and that our commitment to equity, leadership, and representation matters. We’re grateful for the recognition and even more excited about what’s next!
