Thomas McLoughlin, MD

Dr. Thomas McLoughlin, Jr., is the Chair of Anesthesiology for Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). He joined LVHN in 1996 as Chief of the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology and Vice Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology before his appointment as Chair in 2001. Dr. McLoughlin also is a Professor of Surgery, Division of Surgical Anesthesiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. McLoughlin earned his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia. He then entered active military service, joining the academic faculty of the Uniformed Services University and the clinical faculty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. While in the Army, he served as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Program Director of Anesthesiology Residency Education at Walter Reed. 

Dr. McLoughlin has served as an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology and is now entering his second term as one of the twelve physician Directors of the American Board of Anesthesiology.
