Test Code
NGS38
Test Name
Brain Malignancy Gene Mutation Panel
CPT Codes
81445
Expected Turnaround Time
13 - 14 days
Clinical Utility
The Brain Tumor Gene Sequencing Panel provides comprehensive detection of somatic mutations, including single nucleotide variants and small insertion/deletions up to 30 bp, in 38 genes that have been linked to gliomas, medulloblastomas and meningiomas, and focuses on genes that are mutated in different cell types and grades of gliomas via next generation sequencing.
Specimen and Container Info
Specimen Type: FFPE Block, unstained slides with matched H&E Slide
Processing and Submission Instructions
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue: Slides: 7-10 sections of 10 μm unstained and 1 matched H&E slide. Please take adequate precautions to prevent cross-contamination with other specimens during slide cutting and transport. If it is not possible to send slides, the tumor block is acceptable, although not preferred. Multiple different tests can be performed on the same specimen.
Transport Instructions
Transport to the laboratory at room temperature.
Stability Requirements

Room Temperature

FFPE Block, 5 years
Causes for Rejection
Specimens with less than 10% tumor content will be rejected.Do not submit decalcified specimens, cytology smears or samples from hematologic malignancies.
Methodology
Next Gen Sequencing (NGS)
