Collection Instructions
  1. Collect 2 light blue top (sodium citrate) tubes via venipuncture.
Processing and Submission Instructions

Platelet-Poor Plasma Processing Instructions

  1. Separate plasma from cells within 4 hours of collection.
  2. Perform platelet poor plasma processing procedure.
  3. Transfer 1.5 mL of platelet poor plasma to a clear aliquot tube (screw cap). Freeze immediately.
Transport Instructions

Transport to the laboratory frozen.

platelet poor plasma: 14 days at -20°C or 6 months at -70°C

  • Clotted or under filled tubes
  • Excessive hemolysis, icterus, or lipemia
