High-Sensitivity Troponin I is used for the quantitative determination of cardiac troponin I in human plasma and can aid in diagnosing acute myocardial infarction (AMI). |

| Specimen and Container Info | |||
Specimen Type: Plasma Collection Container: Light Green Top, Plasma Separator Minimum Acceptable Volume: 0.8 mL |
| Processing and Submission Instructions | |||
Tubes with anticoagulant: To ensure accurate test results, all tubes containing an anticoagulant or preservative must be allowed to fill completely. Attempts to force more blood into the tube by exerting pressure, as in collection with a syringe, will result in damage to the red cells (hemolysis). |

| Transport Instructions | |||
Transport to the laboratory refrigerated. |

Female 99th percentile (upper reference limit): 12 ng/L Male 99th percentile (upper reference limit): 20 ng/L Limit of quantitation of the assay: 3 ng/L Low risk category: Symptom onset <3 hrs: 0 hr <5 ng/L AND 1 hr Delta (Δ) of <4 ng/L Symptom onset >3 hrs: 0 hr <4 ng/L Intermediate risk category: Symptom onset < 3 hrs: 0 hr ≥ 5 ng/L and ≤ 50 ng/L OR 1 hr Delta ≥ 4 ng/L and ≤ 15 ng/L Symptom Onset > 3 hrs: 0 hr ≥ 4 ng/L and ≤ 50 ng/L High risk category: 0 hr >50 ng/L OR 1 hr Delta (Δ) of >15 ng/L This assay should not be used for patients taking asfotase alfa (i.e. Strensiq). Alkaline phosphatase levels above 400 U/L may cause falsely elevated results. |
