Clinical Utility

Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic used primarily for treating multidrug-resistant Gram-positive infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) infections. Due to its potential for toxicity and variable pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is recommended in certain clinical scenarios.
