Preferred Specimen Type: Serum

Alternate Specimen Type: Plasma

Preferred Collection Container: Gold Top, Serum Separator

Alternate Collection Container: Lavender Top (EDTA), Green Top (Lithium Heparin), Green Top (Sodium Heparin) or Red Top, Plain

Desired Specimen Volume: 2 mL
Collection Instructions
  1. Do not draw sample until patient has been awake for at least two hours.
  2. Collect specimen in gold top, serum separator via venipuncture.
Processing and Submission Instructions
  1. Separate serum from cells within 45 minutes of collection.
  2. Transfer 2 mL of serum to a LabCorp PP transpak frozen purple tube.
  3. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Transport to the laboratory frozen.
