Preferred Specimen Type: Dry Blood Spot

Preferred Collection Container: Filter Paper

Collection Instructions

Collect whole blood via heel stick on NewBorn Screen Filter Paper card. Allow blood to saturate the card until indicated areas are filled and blood has soaked through the card. Air dry the card at ambient temperature for at least 3 hours. Transport at room temperature.
Processing and Submission Instructions
For repeat Newborn Screen specimens only.

Call Referral Testing department if Filter Paper is needed.
Transport Instructions

Transport to the laboratory at room temperature.
