| Description | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Postaxial acrofacial dysostosis (POADS; MIM 263750) also known as Miller syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder with craniofacial and postaxial limb deformities. Craniofacial findings include cleft lip and/or palate, micrognathia, coloboma of the eyelids, and cup-shaped ears. Postaxial limb deformities consist of aplasia of fifth digits of the hand and feet with or without ulnar and fibular hypoplasia. Additional findings may include malar hypoplasia, renal abnormalities and supernumerary nipples. POADS is caused by mutations in the DHODH gene, which codes for dihydroorotate dehydrogenase. It functions in de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis. |
