Preferred Specimen Type: Serum

Alternate Specimen Type: Plasma

Preferred Collection Container: Gold Top, Serum Separator or Red Top, Plain

Alternate Collection Container: Lavender Top (EDTA) or Green Top (Sodium or Lithium Heparin)

Desired Specimen Volume: 2.5 mL
Collection Instructions
  1. Collect a gold top, serum separator tube via venipuncture.
Processing and Submission Instructions
  1. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 1 hour of collection.
  2. Transfer 2.5 mL of serum to a LabCorp PP transpak frozen purple tube and freeze immediately.
  3. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Transport to the laboratory frozen.
