Collection Instructions

Random: Collect 6-14 hours after the last dose.

Processing and Submission Instructions
  1. Centrifuge for 5 minutes at 3000 rpm, then transfer to plastic aliquot tube and refrigerate, if specimen will be tested immediately.
  2. If specimen will not tested immediately, the aliquot should be frozen.
  3. Once frozen, transport specimen submerged in dry ice.
  • Please Note: Concentrations of ß-lactam antibiotic (Penicillns and Cephalosporins) at therapeutic levels may inactivate Tobramycin in vivo and in vitro. Analyze Tobramycin specimens containing ß-lactam antibiotic immediately upon receipt. Freezing the specimen prevents in vitro inactivation and low quantitation.

Transport Instructions

Transport to the laboratory on dry ice.
