Can be used to evaluate the presence of trichomonas.
Specimen and Container Info

Specimen Types: 

  • Freshly voided urine
  • Prostatic Fluid
  • Vaginal, Cervical, or Urethral Fluid

Collection Containers:

  • Sterile, Non-additive Container
  • Plastic Urine Container (Preservative Free)   

Minimum Acceptable Volume: 0.4 mL

Volume reflects estimated whole blood.

Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.
Collection Instructions

The specimen should be collected:

  1. Using a speculum without lubricant.
  2. The mucosa of the posterior vagina may be swabbed, or the secretions may be collected with a pipette.
  3. Express the swab into the saline for transport to the laboratory.
Transport Instructions

Transport to the laboratory at room temperature.
